The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is reviewing its partnership with Crime Stoppers following a cybersecurity attack affecting the program’s P3 platform.
More than 170,000 tips submitted through P3 software between January of 2022 and November of 2025 were affected, approximately 14,000 of which included personal information.
Crime Stoppers is anonymous and names are never provided, but some of the tips may have contained identifying information.
The breach has led some police services to suspend their use of Crime Stoppers which is run by Navigate360, a U.S.-based company.
The RNC says it is working to better understand the incident and confirm that the anonymity of participants is “fully protected.”
While the Constabulary says it has not received any safety concerns regarding the breach, it is encouraging anyone with concerns about their personal safety to reach out to their local police detachment.
