In its most recent poll, MQO Research says the gap between the federal Liberals and Conservatives is narrowing as we move closer to the fall election.
MQO spoke with 400 Newfoundlanders and Labradorians for their summer poll.
According to the poll, the Liberals remain in front, but edged down 3 points to 46 per cent. Conservative support was relatively unchanged at 38 per cent.
The NDP held steady at 11 per cent, while both the Green Party and People’s Party were essentially unchanged at just 2 per cent.
MQO Vice-President, Stephen Moore says the regional races are where they see variation – the parties are tied in St. John’s and eastern NL, while the Liberals have a much healthier lead in central, western and Labrador.
In terms of a leader, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remains the top choice, getting the support of 48% of voters, relatively unchanged from May, while support for Andrew Scheer dropped 4 points to 30 per cent.
Moore says Trudeau leads Scheer across all demographic groups, with his largest lead among females where he leads Scheer by 22 points.
