A former contender for the leadership of the Liberal Party wants to run in St. John’s East.
John Abbott, who was runner-up to Premier Andrew Furey in the two-horse race, wants the party nod in St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi, the district currently held by NDP Leader Alison Coffin.
Abbott, the CEO of the Canadian Mental Health Association, grew up on Portugal Cove Road.
