An 82-year-old Placentia man is being treated in hospital following an extensive overnight search.
The search was launched yesterday afternoon after the man was reported missing.
The gentleman—who suffers from dementia and was not dressed for the elements—was last seen around 1:00 Sunday afternoon standing along the road in the southeast Placentia area.
Extensive resources were deployed to the area, including police, search and rescue teams, and helicopters from 9 Wing Gander and provincial air services.
The man was located this morning, and airlifted to hospital for further treatment. His condition is not yet known.
Mayor Bernard Power offered thanks on behalf of the town council and entire community for the successful conclusion of the search.
