A portion of Prescott Street in St. John’s will remain closed for most of the week after an underground storm sewer collapsed.
A large hole in the road split open on Saturday, following torrential rains. The ensuing damage stretched about 50-metres between Duckworth and Gower Streets.
The City of St. John’s says the storm sewer has been repaired, and repaving will take place over the next few days.
However, the route is not expected to reopen until Friday at noon.
Until then, traffic is advised to find alternate routes through the downtown.
