Government officials used the Paradise Splash Pad as a background to announce the first of two installments of the gas tax refund has been delivered to the province.
The monies equal just under $33-million which will be shared among 276 communities across the province. That includes the one-time top up that was included in the 2019 budget.
Paradise Mayor Dan Bobbett was the municipal representative at the announcement. His town will receive just under $2-million, including the top up.
Bobbett says that the funds will be added to their budget, and they have lots of places to spend it. Some of those projects include road work like the roundabout on MacNamara Drive and recreation projects such as the splash pad.
This was just one of multiple infrastructure funding announcements made today due to a visit by the Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, François-Philippe Champagne.
