Police confirm that remains found last week in Manitoba belong to two British Columbia men, wanted in a cross-Canada manhunt.
Manitoba RCMP say that autopsies have confirmed the two bodies found in northern Manitoba, last Wednesday, are 19-year-old Kam McLeod and 18-year-old Bryer Schmegelsky.
Police say the two died of what appears to be self-inflicted wounds.
The two men were charged with second degree murder in the death of University of British Columbia lecturer Leonard Dyck, and were suspects in the deaths of American woman Chynna Dease and her Australian Boyfriend, Lucas Fowler.
Two firearms were located near the bodies. Forensic specialists are working to confirm whether the weapons are connected with the homicides.
RCMP say it will conduct a review within the next few weeks, providing an update to the families before that information is publicly released.
