NAV CANADA is unable to say how many jobs will be affected in Gander due to cost-cutting measures announced last week.
The private, not-for-profit company has been hard-hit by the downturn in the aviation industry.
NAV CANADA announced that it is working to safely streamline operations and adapt the size of its workforce in order to align with air traffic levels which have petered out since the pandemic struck.
The company says the exact number of layoffs in Gander is yet to be determined.
NAV CANADA provides air traffic control, airport advisory service, weather briefings and aeronautical information services for domestic and international airspace. The Gander office coordinates and monitors trans-Atlantic flights.
