Nalcor is reporting the first flow of power generated at Muskrat Falls over the Labrador-Island Link.
Power from Muskrat Falls was delivered to customers on the island for the very first time last Friday, December 4th.
The power came from the first generating unit at the hydro facility. Unit 2 turned with water for the first time in October, marking the beginning of commissioning activities on that unit.
Installation and assembly of units 3 and 4 meanwhile is ongoing. Completion and commissioning of those units is forecast for May and September of 2021.
Nalcor says it is working through issues with the Synchronous Condenser, while software on the GE Grid is expected to be delivered in May. Interim software will be used to deliver power over the Labrador Island Link while final Bipole Software development continues.
