The plot thickens involving contact between the chief of police and the government around promotions within the RNC, with another minister being accused of interfering with the process.
RCMP documents state that Minister Bernard Davis called RNC Chief Joe Boland in early March asking how the investigation was going into allegations that Minister Sherry Gambin-Walsh leaked information about promotions.
Davis admits he did call Boland but that it was only to see how his friend was making out because he had learned through the media that the chief was going through a hard time with the force.
Davis also insisted he didn’t know anything about the Gambin-Walsh investigation until a few weeks later when he again found out through the media.
Meanwhile, Davis says he did suggest a longtime friend for the position of forensics specialist with the RNC but didn’t do anything wrong. He says he sent a text to the chief just letting him know there was someone qualified for the job who wanted to return home from the United States, so he simply put them in touch with each other.
In the end, the hiring of Davis’s friend, Kathryn Moyse Rogers, caused a rift within RNC since she is a civilian, not an officer.
