The Supreme Court has allowed an appeal by Blue Sky Family Care after the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor revoked the group’s permit to operate a youth home in the town.
In October 2014, the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor revoked Blue Sky’s operating permit to run a youth residential care home—just five months after it had been issued.
The move came after the town received complaints from area residents about commotion and disturbances at the home.
Blue Sky appealed, and the matter went to the Central Newfoundland Regional Appeal Board, which upheld the town’s decision.
Blue Sky again appealed. The matter was heard in Supreme Court, and Justice Sandra Chaytor allowed the appeal.
The case has been sent back to the Board for reconsideration. Costs were awarded to Blue Sky.
