Current and retired employees of CN were recognized last night at The Rooms as the executive vice-president of the railway paid a visit to the capital city. 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of CN.
While the federal government pulled rail service from the island portion of the province back in 1988, Sean Finn says some might be surprised to know that CN is still actively involved in the province with its container service.
He says their container business is growing across Canada where containers are delivered by truck via ship. Finn says they recognize the historic importance of the railway to Newfoundland.
Last night they announced a donation of $50,000 to the Health Sciences to show their appreciation.
CN also announced the donation of 100 trees for a legacy forest at the Ayre Athletic Grounds in St. John’s in the fall.
