A month-long festival of contemporary and historic art is beginning today on the Bonavista Peninsula.
Running until September 15, the Bonavista Biennale will include 22 indoor and outdoor sites spread along a 100 kilometre loop.
Catherine Beaudette says it is a unique set of events with a deep meaning.
The theme for the month is “FLOE.” A play on the word flow, Beaudette says it can carry different meanings.
Many of the connotations revolve around water. The word “floe” is a play on the flow of an iceberg. Other uses refer to naval traffic and the migratory patterns of whales.
