Rumours have been running rampant since yesterday’s briefing about businesses that could have come into contact with a positive COVID case, and the subject of one of those rumours is nipping the situation in the bud.
A story was making the rounds that a COVID-positive person had dined at Basho Restaurant & Lounge, a restaurant on Duckworth street, on Wednesday.
The owner took to social media last night to quash the rumour, saying the story is false and that they followed up with Eastern Health to make sure.
They went on to say the false story has had a negative impact on business, with many choosing to cancel their reservations.
The restaurant is asking everyone to be mindful of the information they spread and the impact it can have on others.
