The Eating Disorder Foundation is aware of a big increase in eating disorders in the province during the pandemic.
Executive Director Paul Twomey says that’s resulted in a greater demand for their services.
Not only for the programs they provide, says Twomey, but on the health care system as a whole.
Next week is Eating Disorder Awareness Week in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Twomey says the stress, anxiety and uncertainty created by the pandemic have added to the problem.
All the Eating Disorder Foundation’s programs are “oversubscribed” with waiting lists for programs provided through the health care system.
