Fall is fast approaching, which means the beginning of both the St. John’s Edge and Newfoundland Growlers’ respective seasons.

However, formal lease agreements have not yet been signed with either team.

St. John’s city Councillor Sandy Hickman says initial talks have taken place with both teams, and they are currently waiting to hear back from them to move things forward.

Hickman says the talks won’t affect the upcoming seasons. He points out that last year a lease agreement wasn’t signed until November.

He says both teams will be operating under last year’s contract until a new one is signed.
