Ray and Jacob Griffiths are trying to build off last year’s successful car and motorcycle show, in the second annual “Jake’s Show n’ Shine” in support of the Autism Society NL.
The father and son team got the idea after Ray purchased a 1954 ford F-100 truck and started attending car shows on the island.
The event takes place on August 24 at the Dunville ball field, and all proceeds go to the NL Autism society.
Jacob says he has received a lot of support from the Placentia community. They raised $10,000 last year and are aiming for $15,000 this year.
On VOCM Open Line with Linda Swain, Ray said that it is hard to top last year’s show, but they have lined up plenty of new activities.
He says they will have a kids’ zone this year, including face painting, a colouring contest, balloon-tying, bouncy castles, a dunk tank—and of course, Jake’s famous BBQ pit.
Their mascot Piston Pete and friends will also be attending.
