Seventeen tickets for using a cell phone while driving were issued this week on the stretch of highway between Deer Lake and Corner Brook.

Officers with the RCMP Traffic Services West were specifically watching for distracted driving on the highway on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Five tickets were written for not wearing a seat belt, while two tickets were issued for failing to provide proof of insurance.

At least one person was issued a ticket for driving without properly clearing their windshield of snow.
