Video of a woman who refused to wear a mask at a local Colemans grocery store has gone viral, with many praising the way in which a grocery supervisor handled the issue.
Vice President of Marketing with Coleman’s, Greg Gill, says they’ve received a lot of positive comments in response to the video
He says it was difficult for the supervisor—who he describes as a wonderful person who was doing his job—to see some of the initial negative commentary. That tone quickly turned to “a groundswell of support” for the company and the manager in question, according to Gill, who says the support was overwhelming.
Carey Majid of the province’s Human Rights Commission says there are no clear answers when it comes to mask policies, because the accommodations in every workplace are different and unique to their circumstances.
She says while the commission is getting a lot of calls from everyone from individuals with health concerns to businesses, in the end, it’s important to remember to be kind.
