A man from Ontario will soon be cycling through Atlantic Canada to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis Canada.
Paul Jankura plans to travel by bike from Kitchener to Cape Spear in hopes of raising $100,000. The journey was partly inspired by his friend Josh Fleet, whose mother is from Bell Island.
Josh was diagnosed with MS in 2016, and in 2017 Jankura temporarily severed his foot in a workplace accident. While Jankura was growing stronger after the accident, he says Josh’s body was deteriorating. That’s when he was inspired to do the ride.
Jankura says he has been training, but nothing can prepare him for the feat.
He says finally reaching Cape Spear is going to be a special moment. One that he has been imagining in his head over and over again.
Jankura is set to begin his Journey on Saturday, and hopes to reach Cape Spear in 12 days.
