Today’s winter storm wreaked havoc with the electrical grid across parts of the province today, knocking out power to thousands.
As the storm rolled across the island, power crews set out to mend the issues and restore electricity.
As of this afternoon, Newfoundland Power reported thousands of customers affected by outages in Central Newfoundland—listing severe weather conditions and ice on power lines as the common culprit.

As the skies cleared, NF Power says that a helicopter patrol spotted a tree that had fallen on some power lines, causing an outage in the Wesleyville/Greenspond/Trinity area.
Crews expect to have power restored to most areas by 10 p.m.
