The Rovers Search and Rescue group is reminding people taking in the great outdoors to be extra careful when traversing the coastline.
They say large lips of snow that hang over cliffs, known as cornices, have been spotted around popular sites such as Cape Spear and elsewhere.
Cornices are snowdrifts that can look like snow-covered ground but are actually fragile and unsafe shelves of snow that can collapse at any time.
The Rovers recommend a solid survey of such areas before venturing anywhere nears cliffs this time of year.
