Despite extensive testing and investigation, public health officials have not been able to trace the source of a case of COVID-19 linked to the health care centre in St. Anthony.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says they are confident, however, that the virus has not spread further.
Sometimes, “as hard as we try, we cannot find the answers that we’re looking for,” says Fitzgerald. Testing has taken place in the community and at this time, the virus does not appear to have spread.
Dr. Fitzgerald says they do not have information on whether the Lab-Grenfell case is one of the new variants.
There were three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province today, all in the Eastern Health region and all are contacts of previous cases.
There are 84 active cases in the province, including three people in hospital.
Vaccine Scam Warning
The Department of Health is warning the public of fraudulent calls involving COVID vaccines.
According to the department, reports have been received about callers asking people to pay for their COVID pre-registration and vaccine.
Both pre-registration and the vaccine are free and the calls are part of a scam.
Anyone who receives a suspicious phone call or message should immediately report it to the nearest police detachment.
