The Town of Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove is getting its first paved public parking lot.
The town has seen a huge influx in tourism in recent years and parking on its narrow streets has proven a growing problem.
Mayor Sam Lee says the geography of the town—in a narrow valley surrounded by steep hills—is problematic, but with the help of the federal and provincial governments they’re now able to clear a site on Skinner’s Hill to accommodate 24 vehicles.
Mayor Lee says it wont solve parking problems but it will help. He says if they can move any amount of vehicles into a parking lot then it will help handle congestion.
