A man who beat another man to death in downtown St. John’s in 2013 was released on bail this morning.
40-year-old Kenny Green was sentenced to six years in prison for manslaughter in the killing of 47-year-old Joey Whalen at a home on Tessier Place.
While awaiting trial in that case, Green was the target of an orchestrated attack in the chapel at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary.
Green was released today after he was most recently charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and breaching a condition of his release.
He was arrested by police in late November after a search that spanned several days and included lockdown of a section of Empire Avenue near a house where they thought he was.
Green was released on a raft of strict conditions, as well as promises by three people to pay up to $2,350 in fines if he breaks any of those rules.
