Eastern Health is warning of an increase in instances of fake cheques being used to purchase items under Eastern Health’s name.
The health authority says it has learned that counterfeit Eastern Health cheques are being used by people posing as Eastern Health representatives to purchase items.
All payments from the regional health authority are made through Eastern Health’s financial services department and anyone who is aware of suspicious payments or payment requests is asked to contact financial services.
Anyone who has regular financial dealings with Eastern Health is asked to consider direct deposit.
Police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre have been notified.
