One of the biggest revenue-generating events for bars and pubs will not be going ahead this year on the Avalon.
What is usually a raucous weekend of celebration on George Street, St. Patrick’s Day will be quiet, as bars and pubs on the Avalon remain closed due to Public Health Restrictions. However, they can open tomorrow off the Avalon but with restrictions.
Some establishments, such as O’Reilly’s Pub, will be continuing with virtual events, but that will not make up for the revenue loss.
Don-E Coady, Marketing and Communications for the George Street Association, says it’s disappointing that they will have to bow out of the celebrations again this year.
He says St. Patrick’s Day weekend is another great occasion they’ll have to miss out on. He recounts that it was this time last year that the first lockdown began.
