Health care was a main focus at a start-up pitch event offered through a local technology company yesterday.
Six finalists were chosen out of 14 from a program called “Evolution,” which included 8 weeks of entrepreneurial training to prepare participants for a final pitch.
Out of six of those final pitches, four involved the health care sector.
June Tavenor owns a company called Catalyst Health Solutions and pitched her new idea: to offer at-home services to people living with Cancer. She aims to team up with Eastern Health and other care providers in the city to get that underway.
She says she would not have gotten her idea to where it is without the help of the program offered through the Genesis Centre.
She says the program helps people take their idea, validate it and end up with a better product as the weeks go by.
