The number of complaints received by the Office of the Citizen’s Representative have remained unchanged through the pandemic.
Those complaints include those made through the province’s Whistle Blower legislation introduced in 2014.
Citizen’s Representative Bradley Moss says his office receives, on average, between six and 20 Whistle Blower type inquiries per year.
Moss says however not all of those inquiries will proceed to investigation under the Whistle Blower legislation. Some of those inquiries will migrate to the Citizens’ Representative Act because they might not meet the threshold test for the Whistle Blower program.
The stakes are generally higher under the Whistle Blower Legislation which anticipates gross misconduct and perhaps referrals to Law Enforcement.
