Public Health does not plan on changing its guidance at this time to allow high school students across the province to return to the classroom.
That’s according to Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald.
Earlier this week English School District CEO Tony Stack indicated that unless public health measures were to loosen, high school students will continue with scenario three online learning after the Easter Break.
Fitzgerald says Public Health created their guidance based on what they know about variants and the fact that many of the cases seen across the country are variants. Which she says is concerning because eventually most imported cases will be related to a variant.
Fitzgerald explains that knowledge is important to how we move forward. Public health based their guidance around that information and they are planning to stick to it at this time.
