High school students across the province will return to in-class instruction with modifications to help provide for physical distancing.
Students now attending online classes, will move to a “blended learning model,” splitting classes into two, with groups alternating between in-class and online instruction.
Education Minister Tom Osborne says the idea is to help students maintain appropriate physical distancing.
Osborne says the changes have been made in light of real concerns about the mental health of high school students who have been physically isolated from their peers and teachers.
He says medical experts and parents agree that while some students are doing well with online learning, others are struggling. Government and education officials have decided to maximize in-class instruction for high school students while adhering to public health guidelines.
