Bay St. George RCMP have had a busy start to their week, impounding five vehicles for a number of traffic violations.
The first incident unfolded on Sunday morning. Police received a tip of a possible impaired driver, which led them to a vehicle parked by the side of the road. The 49-year-old driver from West Bay was arrested and charged after failing a breath test.
On Tuesday, three drivers were relieved of their vehicles in the span of a few hours. A 19-year-old from Stephenville was ticketed for driving without insurance or registration. A half-hour later, a 29-year-old from Stephenville Crossing was ticketed for not having insurance or a valid licence.
Then, about an hour later, police pulled over a vehicle in Port au Port following up on another report of an impaired driver. The 59-year-old man registered nearly twice the legal limit in a breath test and was charged accordingly.
Finally, on Wednesday afternoon, police laid several charges following a traffic stop in Sheaves Cove. The 24-year-old Stephenville man was impaired behind the wheel, didn’t have a driver’s licence, and was found with open alcohol.
