A local couple is celebrating an extraordinary milestone—74 years married.
Fran and Rodger Deon were married on this date back in 1947 and they’re going out for supper to celebrate.
The couple moved to St. John’s from Ontario to follow their daughter Jenn and now live at Tiffany Village.
An excited and enthusiastic Fran Deon shared their plans on VOCM Open Line this morning.
She says the secret to a lasting relationship is having to “put up with a few things,” and jokes that “sometimes you have to be the boss. Sometimes he’s the boss, but it’s mostly me.”
Rod Deon is a decorated Second World War veteran who was one of the Canadian troops who stormed the beach at Normandy.
