They may not be playing games in front of fans at Mile One Centre this year, but the Newfoundland Growlers are finding plenty of ways to stay busy and active in the community.
The Newfoundland Growlers have unveiled a new program—the Growlers Academy Stay Active Program. The Stay Active Program is a free fitness-focused initiative designed to encourage kids to stay active and create healthy habits during the off-season.
Trevor Murphy is Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations with the Growlers, he says it’s about getting young people to get active as much as possible. However, it’s not just for young hockey players—it’s for young people in general.
Murphy says on the Growlers website, you’ll see the program is made up of general activities that encourage you to keep moving. There will be more hockey-specific items added over the coming weeks, but the program is for any young person who wants to get moving and keep healthy. He adds that there are also some exciting prizes to be won.
The program is free, and anyone looking to register can visit the Growlers website.
