There is no official word on the possible sale of the Come by Chance oil refinery.
In his weekly update, George Murphy of the Consumer Group for Fair Gas Prices fueled speculation that a sale of the facility was imminent.
A spokesperson for North Atlantic Refining Limited Partnership says the company is continuing to explore options with potential partners and investors to restart the refinery—however, due to the sensitive nature of those discussions they are unable to provide any further information at this time.
The provincial government says it has not been informed, nor is it aware of a pending sale.
Earlier this year the provincial government announced a funding agreement to keep the refinery in warm idle until the end of June or until the refinery is restarted or resold.
