Public Health is currently working through contacting and vaccinating Indigenous adults living in the St. John’s-metro region.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says Public Health and Eastern Health have been reaching out and identifying people in that group, a process which includes contacting various local Friendship Centres.
She says the health authority is now moving through the vaccinations for that group.
Premier Andrew Furey adds that a weekly call with Indigenous leaders has been taking place, which has been helping the process.
He explains the leaders have been providing all the information needed to contact people and reach every Indigenous adult in the province.
