The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says there is no risk to public safety after officers were called to the area of the Village Shopping Centre.
The police issued a statement at around 3:30 that they were investigating a report of a weapons offence in the area.
A number of RNC vehicles could be seen lined up near the entrance to the Village from the shopping centre’s upper parking lot.
However, as their investigation came to an end around 4 p.m., officers determined that there was no safety risk.
