St. John’s is going to host the Canada Summer Games in 2025.
That announcement came this morning at the NL Sports Centre on Crosbie Road. The capital city last hosted the event back in 1977. Corner Brook hosted the Canada Winter Games in 1999.
It’s the country’s marquee multi-sport event for amateur sport.

Premier Andrew Furey says the impact on the province will be significant—$77-million to $110-million—as we showcase amateur talent in the country.
Memorial University will be a partner with St. John’s and the provincial government, and will host the Athletes Village. Five sports will be played at MUN facilities.
