When working with a cab company, an employee hears it all, says Rod Dunn.
Dunn is the voice many people in the city refer to as the “Jiffy Cabs guy,” who retired from the role after his shift on Saturday night.
He has been opening presents from callers between dispatches. Some callers today are not calling for rides, they want to hear Dunn say “Jiffy Caaaaabs” @VOCMNEWS pic.twitter.com/u1xESZkfOw

He says when working with a cab company, and a busy one at that, anything could happen in the run of a shift.
He described the weirdest call he ever received in his 39 years as a dispatcher – a man telling him he was running from the FBI and who insisted he stay on the line. Dunn says it is too busy for long calls.
Weird calls are not the only thing cab workers need to worry about, he says.
George Murphy says “he’s the original and the master.” Dunn has showed them a lot. @VOCMNEWS pic.twitter.com/IPmBRKegdV

He says anything could arise: cars could break down, a car could be held up, the police could look for someone, people could lose their personal belongings and they need to prepare for it all.
