The Town of St. George’s on the west coast is on alert after reports that crew from a ship may not have followed COVID-19 protocols.
Mayor Danny Conway posted on social media that he was notified crewmembers left the vessel and visited several businesses shortly after arriving in the deep-water port yesterday.
Conway says about four hours passed between the time the vessel docked and staff took action and notified RCMP.
The vessel in question ships gypsum from Flat Bay to markets outside the province.
Conway says he’ll make a further statement once details of the situation are verified.
