The East Coast Trail Association is reporting that some of their trail system sections are a little wetter and muddier than usual as there is still a lot of water in the ground from spring run-off.
The Association is warning hikers that they should be mindful when using the system. The ECTA does assessments of its trails twice a year to find out where repairs and changes are required.
Pat Ryan, VP of trail management, says one project scheduled involves improvements to the Sugarloaf Path in St. John’s.
There is also windfall being reported throughout the network. They will have a better idea in a couple of weeks of exactly where repairs are needed.
Should dangerous areas be identified, the ECTA publishes alerts and safety tips on its website.
