The Department of Health has announced four new cases of COVID-19 today in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Two of the cases are in Western Health, one is in Central Health, and one in Eastern Health. All cases are related to travel within Canada.
As such, Public Health is asking passengers on the following flights and ferry crossings to arrange for COVID-19 testing:
- Air Canada Flight 8990 that departed Halifax and arrived in St. John’s on Friday, April 23;
- Air Canada Flight 8008 that departed Toronto on Thursday, April 22 and arrived in Deer Lake on Friday, April 23;
- Wednesday, April 21 day crossing from North Sydney to Port aux Basques on the MV Highlanders;
- Friday, April 23 night crossing from Port aux Basques to North Sydney on the MV Highlanders.
There is one new recovery today, leaving 28 active cases in this province.
- Eastern Health: 18
- Western Health: 8
- Central Health: 2
- Labrador-Grenfell Health: 0
The investigation continues into the source of a case reported in the Western Health region on Friday, April 23.
As of today’s update, the province is reporting that 33.6 per cent of all eligible adults in Newfoundland and Labrador—about 155,308 out of 462,300 people—have received their first vaccine dose.
