Nova Scotia is announcing a two-week province-wide shut down due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.
96 new cases were reported in Nova Scotia today, and the virus is in every region of the province. 90 of those cases are in the Central region, which includes Halifax.
All schools and non-essential indoor businesses will be closed.

Premier Iain Rankin says that the shutdown is due to COVID variants spreading to regions outside of Halifax.
He says they are seeing a concerning rise in cases in the Cape Breton region. He says COVID isn’t slowing down, so Nova Scotia has to.
Ottawa Deploying CAF to Aid COVID-19 Testing Centres in Nova Scotia
Members of the Canadian Armed Forces are being deployed to Nova Scotia to help at COVID-19 testing centers.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says 60 Armed Forces members are on their way to clinics in that province.
With case numbers rising quickly in the Halifax area, the province reached out to the federal government for help.
This follows the announcement that the Forces carried out an assessment of Ontario’s needs. Three military medical assistance teams and nine critical care nurses are being deployed to Ontario. The federal government is also covering the cost of the team Newfoundland and Labrador sent earlier today.
Trudeau calls this a serious step that is taken because the situation requires it.
The government has also reached out to Alberta to see what is required to assist with the state of emergency in Wood Buffalo.
