Golf balls are again flying as people take to the links following one of the best years for the sport in a long time.

Golf is one of those sports in which physical distancing was more easily accomplished.

Greg Hillier, the executive director of Golf NL, says there were new people entering the sport, more people wanted to take lessons, green fees are up, and participation in the junior programs was off the charts. In fact, he says some junior programs already have a waitlist.

He says the pandemic may have been a catalyst but it was a great year weatherwise too.

Most clubs are either open now or soon will be.
