There are eight new cases of COVID-19 reported in the province today, and another three presumptive positive cases.
Among the confirmed cases, three each are in Eastern and Central Health and two are in the Western Health region.
Seven of the new cases are connected to travel within Canada while one case is still under investigation. Contact tracing is underway and anyone considered to be a close contact has been advised to quarantine.
Among the 33 confirmed active cases in the province, two are in hospital. One of the presumptive positive cases is also in hospital.
Public Health says while the increase in cases is a concern, it is not unexpected given what’s happening elsewhere in the country and the fact that the province has seen an increase in travel to the province.
They are asking people traveling to the province to be aware of public health guidelines and follow isolation protocols. There is no concern at this time of community spread in the province.
