A Carbonear Academy student is running a 50-kilometre challenge for the month of May.
Eleven-year-old Tristan Jenkins is running in support of children’s hospitals as a part of the Million Reasons Run.
Tristan will run around five kilometres each day in the month of May until he hits his distance goal to fundraise through donations. He has raised over $700 already, surpassing his original goal of $200.
Tristan’s reason for running is a personal one.
He says he visits the Janeway Children’s Hospital sometimes because of his ADHD and he sees lots of kids he knows he can help. He says some things are hard with ADHD, but running is one of his strengths and he wants to use it to help others.
Tristan has previously participated in the Tely 10, where he ran the race over a total of three days.
