Avalon Pond Cleanups has posted a sobering indicator of how much man-made trash is polluting local waters.
The group recently posted photos to social media following a 20 hour clean up at Bay Bulls Big Pond – one of the capital city’s main water supplies.
The photos as staggering – showing hundreds of pop and beer cans, beer bottles, metal and other litter.
According to the post, the cleanup covered one 3.5 km section of the pond.
More cleanup efforts are planned in the coming weeks.
