A resident of Kenmount Terrace is calling for the City of St. John’s to clean up an intersection.
Around two years ago, the city placed eight concrete blocks at the intersection of Ladysmith Drive and Kiwanis Street in an attempt to make the sidewalk safer for pedestrians. However, the blocks have since begun to break down.
Retired RCMP Superintendent Leo O’Brien, a resident of Kenmount Terrace, says the blocks have done anything but increase safety. He says the blocks are now impairing traffic flow.
O’Brien says he brought this to Council’s attention last fall in a meeting at the intersection with Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary and Councillor Sandy Hickman.
He says they agreed that something needed to be done, but there hasn’t been any action on the issue.
O’Brien has reached out to the Ward 4 Councillor Ian Froude but is yet to receive a reply.
