A CBS family is frantic after losing their cat at the landfill in Robin Hood Bay.

Jessica Dawe says her dad took a load of items to the dump yesterday and unbeknownst to him, the cat somehow got up and hid away in the pan of the truck.

Jessica tells VOCM News that ‘Whiskers,’ which is not used to being outside for very long, is missing somewhere in the area of the dump.

She says as soon as her father opened the pan of the truck the cat flew out and “hit the ground running.” They’ve been back several times shaking her food, and while she’s been spotted, she hasn’t been retrieved yet.

Dawe says staff are keeping an eye out and have a trap set with food in hopes that the cat will come out once things quiet down a bit.
