Four residents of this province are being recognized for their role in fighting forest fires in Australia.

Mark Lawlor, Matthew Wells, Darren Jennings and Joe Russel, all Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture forest fire fighting personnel, were awarded the New South Wales Premier’s Brushfire Emergency Citation for battling fires in Australia in 2019 and 2020.

The individuals, who volunteered with a team from other parts of Canada, were deployed throughout the Australian state of New South Wales.

The citation recognizes the emergency personnel and symbolizes camaraderie and teamwork during challenging times.
